Smith Veterinary Hospital provides radiology as a routine diagnostic tool. Radiology aids in the diagnosis of both soft tissue and bony disease. By giving barium to an animal and then taking a series of radiographs, our veterinarians can rule out the possibility of foreign body disease. Radiographing the bony skeleton of an animal can help to determine degenerative joint disease, neoplasia, or other disease processes.

We are very experienced at taking OFA hip and elbow radiographs and offer this service by appointment Monday through Saturday.  We typically use a light sedative to ensure proper positioning and an accurate representation.

Using our LogicRad Radiograph Digital Converter, we can send radiographs electronically to radiologists for interpretation.  We can use this service to send hip and elbow films to the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals (OFA) for inclusion in their database.
